Babies and Knitting

I recently had the honor of providing Doula Care for the family of this little beauty, as she came into the world.

Her name is Lily. She is the first child and grandchild of one of the nicest families I've ever met.

Lily's mom was a trooper. She was in labor for over 24 hours, with 20 of them in the hospital. She worked really well with her body and helped Lily be born into a calm loving environment. It was the kind of birth that doulas always strive to help parents experience.

I've begun knitting an Elizabeth Zimmermann 3 in 1 cardigan.
This section needs to be pulled and adjusted.

I'm using Telemark yarn. I'm closely simulating the color pattern shown on the front cover of Knitting Around. I began with a garter stitch bottom border. As I continued to knit the border insisted on folding upward. I could have steamed it down, but I don't feel like fooling with it every time I wear the sweater. So, I'm frogging the border. I'm having trouble deciding between an K2P2 ribbing or a hem. Suggestions?

Happy Birthday Sarah!!!

What a wonderful day this is!

You share your birthday with the voice of Homer Simpson, Dan Castellaneta, actress Amy Irving, Aerosmith lead guitarist Joe Perry, and appropriately for your new Spanish family, Jose Feliciano! September 10th is a day for fun, talent and creativity to be born. As the embodiment of such, it was the perfect day for you to arrive!

I've watched you grow from a girl to a beautiful, gracious woman. This past year, you more than proved all the skeptics wrong. Stand proudly. You've earned it!

We all love you and are blessed to have you in our lives. May this next year bring all good things to you
