I worked at the polls yesterday and didn't get my Tuesday sockapalooza update on here.

There's really not much to post about anyway. After reading my pal's blog, I have decided to knit Pomatomus in Northwoods Greens.

Maybe next Tuesday I'll have a picture to post.

The election was a small primary for only one ward. The Board of Elections told us not to expect a large turn out, so we should bring something to do.

I took a wheel of the Caramel colored Un-spun Icelandic Benny gave me for Christmas. I cast on for the Einstein Coat. This is the picture from the pattern book The Knit Stitch.

I plan to line the finished coat since the wool is a bit scratchy.

The best part of knitting this so far was the cast on. It calls for a Crochet cast on. I had never learned this particular cast on, but it is now my new favorite. It's SO EASY! Plus there's no guess work like with Long Tail cast on. I rarely ever begin with just the right length of long tail.
Try it out. It's really simple!

The Einstein coat looks great! I've always wanted to knit a coat.

Thanks for the crochet cast on link. I've done it with a piece of waste yarn as a provisional cast on but never thought of doing it as a more elastic beginning.

I knit a piece of an Einstein coat before I decided it was just way too much garter stitch for an ADHD knitter like myself. I gave the huge pile of Jiffy yarn I bought to knit it to Interim House. That is a LOT of yarn you'll have to spin! I am so impressed! It will be a wonderful piece of knitting I am sure. That Einstein coat is a great pattern, classic, I'm sure you'll be able to wear it for years and it won't look frumpy or outdated.
