Sockapalooza post...finally

I'm a procrastinator. I was supposed to start blogging about my Sockapalooza socks two weeks ago...and here I am now finally getting around to it. Oh well! I've decided to knit Jack Sparrow's Favorite Socks in Knit Picks Palette. I'm doing the heels and toes in black, the foot in red, and the skulls in the light gray. I like these socks so much that I'm going to make me a pair too.

Justin's 19th birthday was Sunday. He spent the morning fishing with his friends, so I made him this fish cake.

Mother's Day was absolutely wonderful. Justin bought me these absolutely GORGEOUS pearls.

My amazing husband also got me some fabulous silk yarn to make the Origami Cardi. The picture doesn't really do the yarn justice. The color is a really beautiful teal, and it's so soft. Yeah, Justin did good.

Happy Birthday Justin!!!

It has been said, "The best revenge is living well".

Now that your dreams of being with your family have been fulfilled, may your future be filled with even more Joy and Love.

I'm proud of you and thankful for having been given the honor of being your mom.

Happy Birthday and Blessings on All of Your Days.

Tuesday Sock Update and Mother's Day

I spun my yarn too thin for the original Sockapalooza pattern plan.

This yarn will need to be knit on either size 1 or 0 DPN's

My pal said she likes cables. So I'm considering designing a pattern that will be a combination of Whitby from Nancy Bush's Knitting on the Road and one of the cable designs from Alice Starmore's Celtic Collection. I'll decide more when I've knit a nice sized gauge swatch.

Mother's Day was WONDERFUL! I got to spend the day with all the kids, my Sweet Benny, my mom, and my Magnificent Granddaughter! The day began by Beautiful Sarah bringing me coffee to my bed. Then she gave me the sweetest Mother's Day card anyone ever received. We all went to church, sans Justin who had to work until 5:00. My mom took Sarah and me to the show. We watched Georgia Rule. It was a really good show but nothing like what we had expected from the commercials. By the time it was over and we got home, Justin was off work and we all went out for dinner. Everyone gave me this at the table.

The stones are my birthstone, blue topaz. I love it!

We ended the day with ice cream sundaes in waffle bowls.

A sweet ending to a very sweet day!

I worked at the polls yesterday and didn't get my Tuesday sockapalooza update on here.

There's really not much to post about anyway. After reading my pal's blog, I have decided to knit Pomatomus in Northwoods Greens.

Maybe next Tuesday I'll have a picture to post.

The election was a small primary for only one ward. The Board of Elections told us not to expect a large turn out, so we should bring something to do.

I took a wheel of the Caramel colored Un-spun Icelandic Benny gave me for Christmas. I cast on for the Einstein Coat. This is the picture from the pattern book The Knit Stitch.

I plan to line the finished coat since the wool is a bit scratchy.

The best part of knitting this so far was the cast on. It calls for a Crochet cast on. I had never learned this particular cast on, but it is now my new favorite. It's SO EASY! Plus there's no guess work like with Long Tail cast on. I rarely ever begin with just the right length of long tail.
Try it out. It's really simple!
