Knitting Away

So many projects...So little time.

I usually do my best work when I have a deadline. As I mentioned before, I'm knitting this little cropped cardigan to go with Kaity's Easter dress. She will also wear it to a wedding a couple of weeks later.

It's a really pretty pattern with enough going on to hold my interest. The back turned out fine.

But as I knit along on the front, I ran out of pattern directions before the piece was long enough.

It should be an easy fix, just irritating when you feel like being a "blind follower" in front of television.

Sarah checked out Arctic Lace from the library. Several scarves in there have captured my attention for summer knitting.

I'm finishing an Elizabeth Zimmermann Baby Bog for Chloe for cool spring evenings. Have you seen that bumper sticker that says, "If I had known how much fun Grandchildren would be, I would have had them first!"? I understand. We've been grandparents to Benny's oldest son's girls for a few years. But we don't get to see them. It seems like daily, Chloe does something new that melts our hearts. Her new thing is to throw up both hands and say "TA DA"!!! She does it at random times and cracks us up!

Next week I'm going to try my hand at felting. When I was at my doula re-certification conference, my family explored Cleveland. Sarah and Benny brought me some Noro Kureyon in my favorite colorway. I knit a toe up sock from the first ball. The yarn is so special to me, I don't want to waste an inch of it. But the sock was becoming a knee sock. Not my style. I found a pattern called Fireside Footies, at Pippi Kneesocks knit and felted from the same Noro Kureyon. I have one footie almost finished. I plan to order some leather soles for them when I finish.

On the doula front, I had a first meeting with a new client on Thursday. We seem to be a good match. We'll have our contract meeting in a few weeks. She was so cute. She brought her ultrasound pictures to show me how amazing her little one is! I love to see the light in expectant mother's eyes, and hear the excitement in their voice as they plan for their new baby. It never gets old!

Happy Spring!
