Life!

Finally, FUN HAPPY LIFE is returning to our house!

The past month has been really busy. First, we had 3 birthdays. My firstborn turned 21. His friends gave him the ultimate week long 21st birthday bash.

Khi turned 9. At the restaurant where we took him for dinner, the waitress asked him how old he was. He told her he was 9 and then in his very Khi-like fashion asked her, "Guess what else?" She responded with interest, to which he said very seriously "I'm in puberty!" As we all recovered, he explained that if you look really close you can see his mustache starting.

Sarah made Kaity a candy covered butterfly cut up cake for her 11th birthday.

Kaity loved it!

The week-end before Thanksgiving we all, sans Jonathan, went to Cleveland for me to attend a Doula Workshop. If you're interested in DONA certification or re-certification, Sunday Tortelli leads the most amazing 2 day week-end workshop imaginable. With lots of hands on practice

and a beautiful closing ceremony.

While I was at the workshop, my family explored Cleveland. Sarah saw Lake Erie for the first time. And they found a mall with a train station inside. They went to a yarn store and brought me presents. I never considered knitting one of the fluffy scarves everyone else seemed to knit last year, but Kaity bought me this yarn. I love the way it turned out!

Sarah chose for me this beautiful Noro Kureyon, in my favorite fall colorway. I've begun a sock but may frog it in favor of felted slippers.

Sarah asked me to teach her to spin. She's a natural! There was never any "Designer" yarn on her spools. Saying that we both deserve much JOY after the past year, Benny ordered a new Ashford Joy for me so Sarah could keep the one I taught her on. She's also interested in dyeing. We dyed a batch of yellow merino for the top of a coat for Chloe.

I love to see people's faces when the dye is exhausted and they see the clear water for the first time!

In the midst of it all, I received this most beautiful card from someone who means the world to me.

The words written inside were even more lovely than the beautiful cup on the cover. I'm not sure where to respond, so I hope the sender will see this here.

I hope the holidays you celebrate will be filled with blessings of joy, peace, and love.

Sounds like everyone enjoyed the conference! How cool that Sarah wants to spin. Does she knit?

It is a wonderful thing to "hear" the joy in your voice. Happy Birthday to all the kids!!

I want to wish you a belated happy, happy birthday.
I wanted to call you yesterday but I had a slight health problem so I wasn't feeling too well when I finally got home. You were in my thoughts however.

I am so lucky to have you as a friend. Thank you so much for calling me that first day and those many days afterwards. And thank you for being a good support system and holding my hand thru so many crisis in my life.

Most important, thank you for being you. I hope you wear the shrug in pleasure.
